Day 87 of 366: Caught in the Rain

Rainy Easter Sunday. But we didn't mind. We had a nice time with the family and a chocolate egg hunt indoors. I just popped out into the garden to steal a few minutes for my daily picture. Fortunately I found an old leaf caught in the rain water. Its colours were not faded any more. The rain gave it a second life. It was bright and shiny again, it got a second chance to be beautiful and alive for a few more moments...

Coincidentally the next day we watched Danny Collins, a touching film about an ageing 1970s rock star inspired by a true story. A story of a man who wrote songs people loved, but not the songs he wanted to write. Only because he didn't want to give up his glamorous life of sex, drugs and rock-n-roll. However everything changed when his manager discovered a 40-year-old undelivered letter to him from John Lennon, in which he recognised Danny's talent and urged him: "stay true to yourself, stay true to your music". After reading the letter Danny decided to change his life and he finally got a second chance to be a part of the family he never met before, and to write and perform the music he always kept in his heart.

It's spring in my mind
But the autumn leaves they fall
As I am walking by
I collect them all.
I'm walking blind upon this road
In search of higher ground.
Don't look back,
Don't look back
And don't look down.

Caught in the Rain

The rain was persistent for most of the day, but I found it quite comforting to watch how it transformed the ordinary world behind the windows into watercolour paintings.

I hear the drizzle of the rain
Like a memory it falls
Soft and warm continuing
Tapping on my roof and walls

And from the shelter of my mind
Through the window of my eyes
I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets
To England where my heart lies.

Paul Simon

In the evening I had a little walk along the River Thames in Richmond. I love that part of London. It is very picturesque even at this time of the year. Needless to say but I got caught in the rain myself on the way back home.
