Angel's Wings is a beautifully designed monument in Ave Maria Lane near St. Paul's Cathedral. What I didn't realise was that Thomas Heatherwick designed it as vents for the cooling system for the underground electricity substation underneath. What a great example of creating something functional and artistic at the same time.
