Day 194 of 366: Little Red Staircase

One of the areas of Ostrava that has been improved is Ostrava-Svinov train station with its integrated train, bus and tram transport system. It used to be a dark and dingy place and walking from the train station to the bus or tram stop used to be quite an unpleasant experience, especially in the dark. Thankfully the area has been partially rebuilt and modernised. It is one of the most important train stations in Ostrava with great connections to the rest of the country and beyond. In just over three hours you can be enjoying wonderful views of Prague, Slovakia and Poland are within an easy reach, and if you love walking like me, in half an hour or so you can be in the middle of the nearby Beskydy mountains.
