Black and White Spider Awards 2017 –

She was free in her wildness. She was a wanderess, a drop of free water. She belonged to no man and to no city.

Black and White Spider Awards 2017

I am not one for competitions, normally. It is very easy to fall into a trap of thinking about how to impress other people, and forget that photography is about enjoying the moments and experiences. However sometimes I do take part in a yearly competition or two, trying not to take it too seriously, and not to let the results affect what I love.

This year I submitted a few images to an international competition Black and White Spider Awards, and was very pleased that three of them made it to the gallery.

White Willows, which was awarded the second prize in the Nature category, is one of my favourite pictures from Windsor Great Park. It reminds me of a lovely morning walk I spent there with my photographer friend. It was a part of my 365 Challenge in 2016 and I wrote about it in one of my blogs.

Lonely Gondolier, which got Honorable Mention in the Silhouette category, is a wonderful reminder of one of my trips to Venice, and a part of my ongoing project dedicated to this magical place.

Round Three received an Honorable Mention in the Sports category is not a usual subject for me. But some time ago I had an opportunity to attend a cage fighting event and faced a challenge of capturing it.

Against the Tide received the Nominee award in the Architecture category. It is a part of my project depicting the English coast in winter. My favourite time of the year by the sea.
