2021 Week 44: The Lakeland Light

The fleeting hour of life of those who love the hills is quickly spent, but the hills are eternal. Always there will be the lonely ridge, the dancing beck, the silent forest; always there will be the exhilaration of the summits. These are for the seeking, and those who seek and find while there is still time will be blessed both in mind and body.

Alfred Wainwright

These beautiful, peaceful days spent walking in the Lakeland light felt divine. I will miss the freedom of being on hilltops, the breathtaking views, the fresh autumnal breeze piercing through the air so you can almost taste it, the everchanging light and weather.

I will also miss the tranquil moments of calm when standing on the lakeshore and watching the morning light taking over the darkness of the night. Meandering through November woodlands glowing with the late autumnal colours. The evening light glistening on luminous waterfalls.

Until next time, I will cherish all those precious memories.

It's always worth walking up a hill no matter what the view is. There is always a reward for your effort.
