2021 Week 42: Along The Downs Link

This week we finished walking the last section of the Downs Link, a 37 mile footpath and bridleway linking the North Downs Way at St. Martha's Hill in Surrey with the South Downs Way in Shoreham-by-Sea in West Sussex. We split it into three sections, though it can be done in two. It is mostly flat and easy to walk. Though in places it can get a little boring as it winds its way through a lot of woodland with no open views. The beginning and the end are most interesting and more varied.

There is no official guide to this trail, however we found a couple of great resources. First of all, the Rambling Man blog, an in-depth description of the route with many interesting historical facts and images. There is also a nice book by Holly Worton Adventure on the Downs Link, which contains a lot of practical information. However, it is also a travel memoir that is pleasure to read.
