2021 Week 30: Denbies Rain

Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add colour to my sunset sky.

Rabindranath Tagore

The end of the week was a real treat for me. I spent it at the Denbies Vineyard Art Gallery with my friend Eddie Hyde, attending our joint exhibition The Poetry of Landscape. For the first time after almost two years I met real people and had real conversation as opposed to isolating at home and having mostly only video calls to keep in touch with the outside world. Though I was very apprehensive, the pandemic is far from over, I still enjoyed some kind of normality for a few days.

On Sunday, when leaving the gallery after taking down the exhibition, the weather turned for the worse. I didn't mind though. I love rain, it makes colours more vibrant, the air fresher and adds sparkle all around.

True, the sun and the wind inspire. But rain has an edge. Who, after all, dreams of dancing in dust? Or kissing in the bright sun?

Denbies Rain

The best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.
