2021 Week 0: Beauty And Imperfection

The first day of the New Year seems like a good day to start my Photo A Week Project. Though theoretically it is still Week 53 of 2020, I decided to leave the last year behind and start afresh today straight away.

It was an early morning start, but to me it is always the best time of the day. With the Tier 4 restrictions, I didn't feel it was right to travel anywhere, so I was back to our local park. Bushy Park gets very busy, so if you want to have a bit of peace and quiet, you have to get there before dawn and leave before the crowds start getting in. Though this time it seemed much more difficult to get away from the city noise. I was trying very hard to enjoy the blue hour and ignore the cyclists riding through the dark, the park ranger's van headlights getting in the way and early risers either jogging or dog walking past.

However, once I got away a little bit further, the noise and all the distractions slowly disappeared in the distance, and I could finally appreciate a moment of silence.

There is an ancient willow tree on the bank of one of the ponds, a fallen giant that witnessed many a storm. Until it eventually gave in to one. Nevertheless, its timeless beauty still makes this spot very special. At least for me.

If you look closely at a tree you'll notice its knots and dead branches, just like our bodies. What we learn is that beauty and imperfection go together wonderfully.
